We’re pleased to share that ZBM Patents & Trademarks will be contributing to BIST Catalysers, a new innovation programme designed to strengthen entrepreneurial and innovative mindsets within the BIST research community.

As part of the programme, our partners Carolina Janer and Bernabé Zea will lead the session “Patents & IP Law” on January 30, 2026, focusing on the role of intellectual property in translating scientific research into innovation. The session will cover key aspects of patent protection, patentability requirements, publications versus patents, strategic use of know-how, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence—combining legal foundations with practical insight.

Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) Catalysers is a forward-looking initiative that helps researchers turn knowledge into impact, and we’re proud to contribute to programmes where intellectual property plays a central role in bridging science and innovation.
