Our partner Carolina Janer, European Patent Attorney at ZBM Patents & Trademarks, takes part in Patents Week, organized by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, held from November 4 to 6, 2025, at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.

On Tuesday, November 4, Carolina leads the session “Keys to Protecting R&D Results”, structured in two parts (10:30–11:45 | 12:15–13:30).

Patents Week stands as a benchmark event in Spain in the fields of patents, research, knowledge transfer, and technological innovation. Its fifth edition focuses on the major challenges facing the healthcare and biotechnology sectors.

Within this context, in an interview Carolina shares her reflections on the role of industrial property in innovation and knowledge transfer. Drawing on her extensive experience in biotechnology and life sciences, she highlights the importance of viewing patents not merely as a formal procedure but as a strategic tool:

“It’s clear that a patent is an excellent calling card for technology transfer or for an emerging company.”
