About Me
Juan obtained his BSc in Chemistry and his MSc in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry from the University of Valladolid. He completed his PhD in 2025 at the Complutense University of Madrid under the supervision of Prof. Nazario Martín and Dr. Jesús M. Fernández-García, where his research focused on molecular nanographenes for energy-related applications. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting researcher in Prof. Colin Nuckolls’ group at Columbia University (USA), working on the development of novel electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. His work has been published in leading scientific journals, including Nature Chemistry and Angewandte Chemie.
In 2026, Juan received specialized training in patents for professionals at the University of Barcelona and then joined ZBM Patents & Trademarks as a Chemistry Patent Advisor. In this role, he focuses on drafting patent applications, preparing freedom-to-operate and infringement risk analyses, and conducting patentability studies.
