New Grants: OEPM opens 2026 call to promote patents and utility models

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) has published its 2026 grant program to support and promote the internationalization of Spanish inventions by financing a percentage of patent and utility model fees.
This initiative aims to help Spanish businesses—both SMEs and large companies—as well as individuals, to protect their innovations and expand into international markets through strategic use of IP.
The program is structured around two main lines:
– International program: supporting patent and utility model filings abroad (European patents, PCT applications, and national filings in foreign jurisdictions), including costs such as filing, search, examination, grant, EPO annuities, and European patent validation
– National program: supporting Spanish patent and utility model applications, available exclusively for SMEs and individuals
📅 Application period: March 25 – April 26, 2026 extended until May, 8, 2026
📅 Eligible activities period: January 1, 2025 – December 21, 2026
