Last month, ZBM’s Óscar Rubio was honoured to  be asked to present a session entitled “Be Safe & Protect Your Ideas” as part of S2 Xpeed‘s S2X Support Program for industrial tech startups. Set up just over 2 years ago, this exciting hands-on programme aims to support and nurture industrial tech and hardware-based ventures from the early stages of functional prototypes through to successful manufacturing and marketing. With their team and collaborators expert and diverse knowledge, the programme brings an important insight into sectors such as MedTech, Food and AgroTech, SpaceTech, CleanTech, Industry 4.0, Mobility, to name but a few.

Óscar’s session provided a global overview of the European intellectual property landscape, equipping startups with essential insights and strategies to protect their innovations. He furthermore addressed critical aspects of IP strategy, from navigating the patent process to understanding various forms of IP protection, all tailored to the unique needs of startups in the European market.

Since 2022 Óscar has been partner in ZBM, he has an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, is a European patent attorney and holds the European Patent Litigation Certificate, giving him the right to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court. Garnering extensive experience through his career, he has worked in fields such as wind energy, solar energy, metallurgy and automation, amongst many others. Óscar also acts as a technical expert in Spanish court cases and lectures on patent matters in Spain.

It was a great pleasure to be invited by Oriol Pascual Moya-Angeler, Miriam Segura, Oriol Garcia Vivet, Ignasi Torres Jiménez, and Tomás Frost de la Mora to contribute to this pioneering programme and to connect with the outstanding teams behind AI-Sense, BioEclosion SL, Curatio BV, ELNAV.AI, and Ubyko | Omnichannel Truly.
