BioHabana 2022 is the 1st International Congress of Cuban Biotechnology and includes the organisation of symposia, with keynote lectures and workshops for the presentation of work in posters and/or oral communications.

Within the framework of the “BioHabana 2022” a special seminar on Intellectual Property issues was held from 26-28 April in Habana. Bernabé was invited to share his expert knowledge and presented an on-line talk entitled “Patent strategy in biomedicine: biomedical discovery, patent protection, evergreening, transfer, commercialisation and patent litigation”. By leading participants on a journey through a biomedical research project from the discovery of a target to the commercialisation of a medical device, Bernabé showed what can be protected and what information is needed to obtain a strong patent.
