On 17th May ZBM’s Montserrat Jané and Bernabé Zea will participate in a hybrid session at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) entitled ‘Entry into force of the new system of European patent with unitary effect’.

The main purpose of this introductory conference is to elaborate on the opportunities and concerns of the new system, beginning with a brief introduction to the unitary patent package, its conditions and registration procedures, and to provide useful and practical information.

Following the presentation by Montserrat, there will be an open discussion where Bernabé and Carles Puente (Professor at Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB) and cofounder of Fractus S.L) will field questions on how the changes, which come into effect on June 1st this year, will affect the UPC scientific community and their patent strategies and innovation.

Montserrat is European patent attorney with many years of experience in the field of IP. She is also European Patent Litigator accredited at the Unified Patent Court. For his part, Bernabé, in addition to his extensive experience in IP, is also CEO of ZBM BConnect, a consultancy firm that assists private companies and public research institutions in optimising their technology transfer activities, giving him a very useful transversal knowledge to deal with the needs of start-ups.

The presentation and discussion will be both presential and on-line and is open to the public and free of charge. For more details read here.
