José Ignacio Bonilla

About Me
Prior to joining ZBM in 2004, José Ignacio gained experience in patents and in patent searching, particularly in the fields of organic chemistry and pharmacy, having been in charge of the IP and scientific information departments of several pharmaceutical companies for seven years. His main skills include the scientific and patent information retrieval, and preparing patentability reports, drafting and prosecution of European and PCT applications, and he is also involved in preparing validity and freedom-to-operate reports.
Since 2009 he has been based in our Madrid office. He passed the European Qualifying Examination in 2013, and became a partner in 2015. In 2023, he obtained the European Patent Litigation Certificate which will give him the right to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court.
José Ignacio is also technology transfer manager in the field of chemistry and life sciences at ZBM Business Connect, a spin-off ZBM Patents & Trademarks assisting private companies and public research institutions dedicated in optimising their technology transfer activities.
